If you're a fan of Spork fiction, chances are you've heard of Amanda Warrington, who has been around the Trek fandom forever. Last night she wrote a comment-on-a-comment-fic that was simply awesome.
Here's how it happened: The Kirk/Spock Valentine is in progress, with several posts being made by various authors and artists each day. DeliciousNY, who is a very talented author and has made some of my favourite K/S art, contributed a lovely piece based on a WWII-era Valentine card. Her artwork depicts WWII American Army Spock and American Navy Jim gazing adoringly at each other.
Among the comments following her piece was one mentioning how much the commenter would love to see a fic based on that artwork. Amanda promptly filled the request with a lovely story called Army & Navy - first as a comment fic, and then when she'd "buffed and polished it", on her own blog.
And who was the commenter whose prompt led to this beautiful little story? Hmm, who was it...oh, that's right, IT WAS ME. :D I was completely thrilled to have the prompt filled - it wasn't even intended as a prompt, just an offhand comment, really - and the fact that it was Amanda Warrington who did so is awesome.

Thank you both! :)

Tempting Tuesday: Starfish422 recs Spork on the LUSTorium
Some weeks ago I was approached by Miztrezboo of the LUSTorium with a request to write a recommendation for some Star Trek fiction. The blog is branching out to become multi-fandom, an awesome way to remain relevant and to expose readers to new genres they may not otherwise find.
Boo knows how I love the Spock/Kirk fiction, and when she asked me I jumped at the chance to write a recommendation for potential Spork readers!

I Got Ur Back BOO, by TheStupidCupid
The piece was posted today, and you can read it here. Also, I always have an ongoing spreadsheet of Spork recommendations that I update by email for those who request it. If you're interested, please drop me a private message at my FFn profile!

Within Our Reach, by starfish422
So I finally, FINALLY, got my Fandom Gives Back piece finished and sent to BeCullen and Melooza, the lovely, generous and patient women whose donation commissioned it. :) After they read it, they graciously agreed to allow me to share it. As you may know, it's a Spork/Kirk slash fic based in the Star Trek reboot movie.
It's now posted on FFn and on Archive of Our Own, as well as on the Kirk/Spock Fanfiction Archive. If I ever figure out how to post to LJ, it'll be on there too. :)

Checking in
Hi. :) I know it's been a few weeks since I posted. I have been working diligently on my Spork fic and it is this close to being finished. Actually, I've promised my girls BeCullen and Melooza that they will have it on Saturday night! So then I'll go back to working on DD. :)
I know I've been just horrible about Jacey Thursday and Saturday Jackspiration. There have been so many serious things taking place in the news recently that it's made me feel almost guilty, somehow, to dedicate blog space to vapid stuff like ogling guys. At the same time, I know we have to have fun and let off steam from time to time as well.
On that note, a verrrry lovely behind-the-scenes video of the recent Details photo shoot that put ChrisFine Pine on the cover. Thanks to @creampuffsteph for sending this along. :)
And there's this.
Even he can't believe how big it is.

Saturday Attempt to Redeem Myself: Pwned and Phoned
Colour me sheepish. I missed Saturday Jackspiration last week, Jacey Thursday a couple of days ago and now we're back to Saturday Jackspiration. I have an excuse - whether or not you accept it is up to you. The Spork story I'm writing now is PWNING MY LIFE. I am loving it, and at the same time I've never, ever written something that challenged me so much.
Soooo, while I seriously don't have it in me to come up with something witty to redeem myself, I think perhaps I have a couple of things up my sleeve.
There we go. A little something for everyone. :) I lubs you all.
xoxo Katie

There! Right There!
This is, literally, the best youtube video I've ever seen. The person who edited these clips with this song, is a motherfucking genius. Enjoy the Zachary Quinto, Chris Pine and the rest of the Trek reboot crew.

Chapter 28 of Deep Dish is delayed
Hello my dahlinks,
I'm sorry to say that, partly because of my commitment for last week's FFFA and partly because I'm a procrastinating procrastinator who procrastinates (and reads Spork fic), the next chapter of Deep Dish is not ready yet. I'm sorrrrryyyyy. I hope it'll be ready by Friday. :D
In the meantime, if you haven't yet read the July 25th Friday Free-for-All, and if you enjoyed my story The Morning After The Night Before, perhaps you'll want to head over there now to check it out.
Smooches infinity,
Katie

Spork babies
Okay, if you follow me on Twitter, you may have developed a sense recently of my new passion for Spock/Kirk slash fanfic, particularly from the Trek reboot film (2009).
Somewhere, some brilliant, benevolent and talented souls have put together a few photo manips to show us what beauty could result from a Spock/Kirk pairing (and don't whine about mpreg fics - you never know what can happen with that freaky Vulcan anatomy). In fact, their manips may have been driven more by Chris & Zachary (aka Pinto) shipperiness, but since I'm not willing to play with the lives of real people in that manner, Imma hide behind the characters here (and if there were imaginings in my head they would stay there).
I'm only too pleased to share the pics, because - DAMN.
