To the Supreme Court of California

Dear Associate Justice Joyce L. Kennard, Associate Justice Kathryn Mickle Werdegar, Chief Justice Ronald M. George, Associate Justice Ming W. Chin, Associate Justice Marvin R. Baxter, and Associate Justice Carol A. Corrigan:

Congratulations on upholding a proposition that relegates gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, queer, questioning, and two-spirited individuals to second-class citizens. I'm sure that, as they are not entitled to the same protection under the law as heterosexual individuals are, they can expect to see a reduction in their state taxes, retroactive to November 4, 2008.

How unfortunate that the currently-bankrupt State of California is now much less likely to benefit from tourism dollars, from income tax dollars, and from taxes paid on purchases (including the thousands and thousands of dollars that people spend on lavish weddings), that might otherwise have been spent in California by the group of people with approximately $700 billion in buying power in 2008.

Enjoy the rest of your week. Rest well.

Saluting you,

Katie Starfish

Dear Associate Justice Carlos R. Moreno,

You commie, homo-loving son of a gun
. Thank you for trying. I was particularly inspired by your statement that "there is no ‘underlying’ principle more basic to our Constitution than that the equal protection clause protects the fundamental rights of minorities from the will of the majority.” Insightful and absolutely correct, sir.

Respectfully,

Katie Starfish

It is a human rights issue! ARGH. It disgusts me that CA is supposed to be one of the most liberal states in the country. pfft. Not even close.
