Johnny Weir is the shizz

This boy is my hero forever and ever.

In response to inflammatory, homophobic comments made by Francophone Canadian broadcasters, in which they questioned his masculinity and even his gender, Johnny called a press conference earlier this week. Following are two separate clips covering different portions of the press conference.

May I always be as calm, well-spoken and circumspect in the face of criticism and oppression. Johnny's insistence on looking at the larger picture, at who else the comments would affect - other young people, parents of youth people - and his hope that fifty years from now, similar comments won't be part of the social landscape, make him a person whose values I hope to represent well.

Beautifully-done, Johnny. xoxo

Jacey: the beginning

Jacey Dawes.

Long before Jacey was even conceived of, I happened across a photo on a blog (this one) of a boy who had the most beautiful lips. The photo was this one (click thumbnails for full-size pics):

I saved the picture to my hard drive and for several months it was just a picture of a beautiful, but nameless, boy. When I stumbled across it again a few months later, I decided I needed to go back to that blog and find out the boy's name. Not only did I find out his name, I found some new pictures of him, and British model Jacey Elthalion soon got his own category in my Big Folder of Hot Men.

When I wrote the outtake from Over The Top which I'd billed as a "Jack gets some" outtake, I had to create a boy with whom Jack "got some". I decided to go through my BFoHM and realized Jacey had exactly the look for the character: the approximate age, the sexiness and innocence...and dear god, that mouth.

The outtake character Jacey came about as a result of this photo:

Dear heck. That picture was all kinds of inspiring. It really could be considered as the picture that started it all.

I've decided to do a series of special blog posts dedicated solely to Jacey Elthalion - sort of a thank you, and a "by popular demand" for my readers who follow me on Twitter. It's sort of funny, I suppose, that I have two British guys (Henry Cavill and Jacey) as my inspiration for characters from California and Texas. :) In any case, I hope you enjoy the eye candy in the days and weeks ahead.

Starfish422 interviewed on So You Think You Can Write

I want to start off by telling you that the introduction to the above-referenced interview really did my heart good this morning; I want to draw special attention to Sue, the owner of the SYTYCW blog:

I was chatting with the girlies on Twitter and somehow got onto the topic of slash and how I do not read it

I can watch movies about it, look at pics of it, but just cant read it. WELL it is NOT fair to the authoresses of Slash to not include them here on the blog. SO I found us a slash mistress who graciously volunteered to read the slash and talk about it.

Thank you, Sue, for being open and awesome about teh slash. As a slash author I greatly appreciate your acceptance. It's your blog, after all - you can do whatever you wish with it; the fact that you acknowledge there's a slash love out there and have brought someone in to cover that base is pretty stinkin' awesome. :)

The interview itself, conducted by YogaGal, was a lot of fun - very low-pressure and relaxed! Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

The Slash Awards

Tonight my friend Val, aka Touchstone67, and dannie7786/Domward's Mistress announced the inception of the Slash Awards. Twilight awards are often dominated (heh) by hetero fics because hetero has a larger readership (simply a fact of the fandom). The Eddies and Bellies are an excellent example of this. They are among the most respected Twilight fanfic awards; yet when the winter session nominations were announced last week, the dearth of slash fics was glaring.

Please click here
to read about the Slash Awards and the categories open for nomination. I encourage your support of Val and Dannie's pursuit. :)

Over The Top nominated for a Golden Lemon Award

If you haven't heard of the Golden Lemon Awards, they are in their first cycle. From the site:

A few months ago, Twitter was all aflutter with people discussing good choices for lemons, like Best Description of Pussy Flavor, Best Nipple Licking, and Best Dry Humping. We decided that we'd like to give out Awards for categories like that: Awards based on Lemons, or Limes, or almost-smexin'. So, Golden Lemon Awards was born.

Our mission is to recognize excellence in smoldering smut, liquid hot lemons, molten hotness, whatever you wanna call it. We promise a fair, unbiased awards program that we hope you enjoy.

I was already ridiculously excited about these awards - sounded like just a lot of fun. The nominations were announced yesterday, giving me even more reason to be excited: Over The Top was nominated in the best slash category! :) The voting is open now and will remain open until February 13. I would be very grateful for your support in the slash category!

Starfish422 & EJ Santry - PPSS Author Interviews

As I mentioned several weeks ago, my lovely friend Bethie and I interviewed each other for the Perv Pack's Smut Shack's Author Interview series. The interview was posted today! Hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed doing it. :)
